The trials involved building a bespoke piping loop to simulate the various sections of an offshore flowline system. The ultimate purpose of the trials was to determine which pig would be most effective for the specific task at hand. As part of the project workscope, IKM’s in-house design team put together the following 3D animation to showcase the equipment layout and to highlight the various piping sections.
Onshore Pigging Trials
One fundamental challenge of effective pipeline pigging is the internal characteristics of the pipeline itself and the choice of pig(s) deployed. Often pig selection will be considered on merit or purpose rather than obtaining a full understanding.
